AI and automated technology is tackling some of the world’s most pressing problems by spotting patterns and providing solutions. Google’s AI taught itself chess from scratch within a few hours, while two scientists managed to make an algorithm that can predict Zika outbreaks and its severity. The ShotSpotter system, developed by another group, can pinpoint sounds of gunfire with sensors and then can alert authorities about it.
